MISHY ATHIF

Mishy Athif is a singer-songwriter from the tropical Maldives Islands who lives in Perth, Western Australia. Her music is best described as dreamy melodies sung in a baroque-pop style with emotionally driven lyrics that focus on exploring esoteric concepts and psychological themes through the relatable and humbling lens that is the human experience. Her musical influences stem from Singer-songwriters, Old-school Jazz and Indie Art Pop, and include artists like Damien Rice, Ella Fitzgerald, Lana Del Ray, Fiona Apple and more. Mishy moved to Perth in 2016 to recuperate after a long and rewarding adolescent era of music in the Maldives, fuelled by two “anthem” hits, the first of which she performed at age fourteen. Both the songs were performed live in the Maldivian language “Dhivehi” and still continue to remain popular in the Maldives. After years of writing new material and refining a more mature sound, she is set to release her international debut single in early 2023. Through her music and storytelling, Mishy hopes to build a sense of interconnectedness and give listeners the feeling of being understood.
